Volunteer

There are many opportunities for you to volunteer with Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail and help bring the vision of a great and unique park to life.

Become a docent

From time to time, Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail or our partner organizations will have a tour of the Trail. A wide variety of people and groups find interesting aspects about the Trail, from public art to architecture, from native plant life to railroad history. You can help by becoming a docent and lead these tours.

Contact us and we’ll give you the training you need to speak knowledgably about the Trail.

Talk to your alderman

The Bloomingdale line runs through parts of the 1st [Flores], 26th [Ocasio], 32nd [Waguespack] and 35th [Colón] wards. Please contact your local elected official and let them know that the community wants this project to happen and that we need their leadership to move it forward at City Hall and elsewhere.

Don’t know your alderman or in which ward you live? Look it up on the Civic Footprint and also find out your other elected officials.

Represent FBT at public events

Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail often has a table at public events like summer festivals where people can be introduced to the Trail and pick up some material. We have maps, brochures, posters and other materials for this kind of setup, and you can help us by manning those tables.

Contact us and we’ll set you up with what you need to represent the Trail at these events.

Art and marketing

If you are an artist, especially a graphic designer, or you work in marketing, we can use your help. Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail often has design and marketing needs such as flyers, postcards, website projects, and other communications.

Website maintenance

We would like to see this website become a tool for community collaboration and the grassroots organizing that’s central to our efforts. If you are a programmer or a website designer, help us realize this vision.

Research & history

We already know a good bit about the Trail and its history, but there’s still so much to learn.
