The Bloomingdale Trail Run is back! Register Today! Enjoy beautiful views of the city while dashing above Northwest side neighborhoods on the celebrated, elevated Bloomingdale Trail.

This is a family friendly event with a timed 5k along with a ¼ and ½ mile dash for young runners. Runners will begin and finish on the West end of the Bloomingdale Trail at the McCormick Tribune YMCA (1834 N. Lawndale) where they and their families will be treated to light breakfast treats, coffee and other surprises. The Bloomingdale Trail will be closed to all other users while the run is being conducted. The Bloomingdale Trail Run is is produced by the Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail, the McCormick Tribune YMCA and the Chicago Park District.

 

WHERE: Start at the west end of the Bloomingdale Trail at the McCormick Tribune YMCA, 1834 N Lawndale Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

WHEN: Sat, August 12th 2023 , 9:00 am - 11:00 am , Event Registration begins at 7:30 am on race day

COST: The Bloomingdale Trail Run including swag filled tote bag:

$30 registration for the 5k

$5 registration for ¼ mile and ½ mile dashes.

Directions & Parking

Starting/Finish Point

The McCormick Tribune YMCA  at 1934 N. Lawndale is the starting point for the race. To take the CTA take Armitage Bus #73 to Armitage and Lawndale and walk South to the YMCA. Limited parking is available at the YMCA as well as free parking on the surrounding streets. Runners are encouraged to take alternative transportation to the event including biking or walking on the Bloomingdale Trail itself to get to the start line.  

Timing

The Bloomingdale Trail Run will be officially timed using ChronoTrack B-Tags on participant bibs. Participants are responsible for the proper application of their assigned timing device. Instructions on proper application of the timing device are provided in the participant packet. Official times for participants will be the electronic timing device time (net time) from when the participant crosses the start line to when the participant crosses the finish line. Participants must wear their assigned timing device continuously to receive an accurate finish time.

*Participant event number bibs and timing devices are specific personal identifiers and may not be exchanged with or transferred/sold to any other person. Sale, trade and/or transfer of race entry/bibs and timing devices are strictly prohibited and will result in the disqualification and/or banning of any individuals involved from future events.

Onsite Registration

Event Registration may be available at the McCormick Tribune YMCA on race day beginning at 7:30am.

*Please note that this event has limited capacity and day of event registration is not guaranteed. 
 

Gear Check 

Gear check will be available for participants at the McCormick Tribune YMCA. Approved gear check bags will be provided at packet pick-up or gear drop off. No backpacks, bikes, suitcases, etc.

Aid Stations           

One aid station will be located on the course. Medical volunteers will be available at the finish for additional assistance.

Food/Beverage      
Water will be available at the start and finish of the race. Participants will receive snacks and sport drinks at the finish line. 

Charity                  

Proceeds from the race supports ongoing public programming on the Bloomingdale Trail.
