We have an exciting announcement! As you may know, 2025 is the 10th Anniversary of the trail’s opening—many of you were instrumental in the planning and were there for the Grand Opening on June 6, 2015—and we’re kicking off this special milestone with the release of Berries for Bloomingdale: The Serviceberry Cookbook.
Featuring recipes submitted by neighbors, volunteers, local business owners and a few far-flung serviceberry enthusiasts, this cookbook is a true community effort, celebrating the fruit of the serviceberry.
What’s a serviceberry, you ask? It’s a spring tree with glorious white blooms, it’s a sweet and juicy purple June fruit. It’s a native understory tree that’s an important food source for our local birds and pollinators and best of all, it grows along the entire length of the Bloomingdale Trail.
Sales of the cookbook will go directly to support Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail’s programming. And you’ll get a wonderful collection of creative recipes that honor our beloved juneberries.
You can purchase the cookbook below or join us for various events on or near the trail where we’ll celebrate a decade of the trail and one of its sweetest features.
